50 Years of Empowering Lives


Stima Sacco was officially registered, marking the beginning of a journey towards financial empowerment and community development. Stima Sacco was established in 1974 to serve employees of the then East African Power & Lighting Company, but currently draws members from individuals in employment from all sectors, business persons’ groups, and corporates. 


The Sacco established it’s own offices at Paramount Plaza outside of Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) offices.

In 2002, Stima Sacco achieved a significant milestone with the launch of its offices at Stima Sacco Plaza. This strategic location not only provided a centralized hub for member services but also enhanced the accessibility and convenience for individuals seeking financial assistance and support from the Sacco.


The year 2010 marked a defining moment for Stima Sacco as it established its common bond, defining the eligibility criteria for membership.

Additionally, becoming the first Sacco to be regulated underscored by Sasra. Stima Sacco’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and adherence to regulatory standards, ensuring the financial well-being of its members.

Diaspora banking


In 2014, Stima Sacco expanded its services by registering Diaspora Services, catering to the financial needs of members living abroad. This initiative allowed Stima Sacco to extend its support beyond borders, enabling members in the diaspora to access tailored financial products and services to meet their unique requirements.

The establishment of Mpawa Insurance Agency in 2019 marked a significant diversification of Stima Sacco’s offerings. By providing comprehensive insurance solutions through Mpawa Insurance Agency, Stima Sacco demonstrated its commitment to safeguarding the financial security and well-being of its members, offering protection against unforeseen events and risks.


The launch of Stima Sacco’s instant salary processing solution. Salo Chap Chap is an efficient, transparent, and seamless Payments processing solution that aims at improving the Payments processing experience for Paymasters and in the process ensure members are delighted in time and empowered for life. This is achieved with high level visibility of transactions to both the Paymaster and Stima Sacco. This solution is used for processing Salaries, Allowances and Pension Payments .


2021 was a transformative year for Stima Sacco with the launch of affordable mortgage services and the introduction of Sharia Banking. These new offerings expanded the range of financial solutions available to members, empowering them with options for affordable homeownership and Sharia-compliant banking services tailored to their specific preferences and needs.


In 2021, Stima Sacco forged a strategic partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Toyota, enabling its customers to access exclusive benefits and enhanced deals for asset financing. This collaboration not only expands the range of financial options available to members but also ensures that they can enjoy competitive offers and tailored solutions for acquiring assets through Stima Sacco’s partnership with Toyota. By joining forces with a reputable automotive brand like Toyota, Stima Sacco reaffirms its commitment to providing value-added services and facilitating members’ access to quality assets through favorable financing arrangements.
